Professional Statement
I am a licensed independent clinical social worker whose experience covers five decades and includes clinical practice, residential treatment, education, teaching and mental health clinical administration.
I have a bachelors degree in experimental psychology from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. I hold a masters degree in social work from Rhode Island College where I was a part-time instructor in clinical practice.
I’ve worked in multiple settings including residential treatment, elementary and middle school settings and retired from the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health in 2014 as Director of Clinical Management for Child/Adolescent Services in the Southeaster Area Office. For the last six years I have been engaged in individual therapy with adults and transitional age youth in a local Mental Health Center while also providing clinical training for staff. Together with my daughter, I facilitate a monthly suicide bereavement support group for people who have lost someone to suicide.
I believe that therapy is a collaborative effort that requires a nonjudgmental and accepting environment where individuals feel free to express who they are and move forward with improving their quality of life.
Outside of work I enjoy the company of my family; daily running, playing pool, table tennis and occasional rides on my Harley.
