Group therapy has a long, proven record as a highly effective form of psychotherapy. In many cases, group therapy is as or more effective than individual therapy. Many individuals who seek treatment feel lonely, disconnected, inauthentic and generally dissatisfied with their relationships. It can be difficult for them to feel close to others and to start and maintain healthy relationships.

Group therapy is an excellent way to address problems in the interpersonal realm. It serves as a “social laboratory” in which participants can acquire the skills to develop fulfilling relationships. Group therapy offers participants a chance to:

  • Improve interpersonal relationships and communication

  • Gain understanding of other people’s thoughts, feelings and behaviors – how you affect other people and how they perceive you

  • Improve self-confidence and self-image

  • Receive and offer support and feedback

  • Experiment with new interpersonal behaviors or ways of relating to others

  • Talk honestly and openly about feelings
