Professional Statement
I am a Clinical Social Worker at Hope Ave Therapy working with children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and parents. My approach with my clients is centered around viewing the client as the expert of their lives while also working collaboratively with the use of cognitive behavioral therapy and liberation health model to help process their lived experiences.
In the past, I have had a variety of experiences, including in-home therapy with children and families through Children’s Services of Roxbury, behavioral therapy for children with autism, as well as working as a residential counselor for adolescent male youth between the ages of 16-22 who are looking to transition out of DCF.
I received my Bachelors degree in both Psychology and Health, Science and Social Policy (Public Health) from Brandeis University and received my Masters in Social Work from Boston University. Prior to receiving my MSW, I served as a City Year corp member committed to 11 months of service, working directly with students as a tutor, peer mentor and role model to adolescent youth transitioning into high school.
My overall experiences have been influenced by the African word, “Ubuntu: I am because you are.” Hence my overall goal in this practice is creating a safe and meaningful space where everyone is accepted, as I truly believe in the idea of our humanity being tied to one another.
