Family Therapy

When the whole family needs support.

Family therapy helps parents, children, and siblings understand each other, repair strain, and handle hard things as a unit instead of alone.

Families feel it when something changes: a divorce, a move, a death, financial stress, a diagnosis, a teenager who has gone quiet, a child whose behavior is suddenly hard to manage. The strain shows up in how people talk to each other, or stop talking. Family therapy brings everyone into the room so the pattern can be seen and changed together.

Your clinician works with the family as a system. That means looking at how communication flows, where conflict gets stuck, and what each person needs from the others, then helping you practice something different. Sessions may include the whole family, parents only, or a parent with one child, depending on what is most useful at each stage.

It is also effective when one person’s struggle is affecting everyone: depression, anxiety, substance use, chronic illness, or eating concerns. Supporting the family often makes the individual treatment work better too.
